Did working 9 til 5 for someone else do it for you? Was it your choice to be your own boss, or maybe the choice wasn’t yours to make and you were made redundant?

Whatever the reason behind your work style [as opposed to life style], you can be sure that working for yourself, running your own business is not the easy option. If it was easy, then everyone would be doing it, wouldn’t they?

Some people say that self-discipline is the most difficult thing but when you’re appreciated you work harder, this is why you work so hard for yourself and self-discipline then becomes self-worth: you get out what you put in.

If you’re struggling to run your own business, then look at it like this: all your efforts and achievements are down to your hard work – growing your business, whether that means adding 1 more client a year or making an extra £100,000 profit this year or turning over £5m next year, this is all down to your hard work.

Help is on it’s way.

It really helps to meet other people who are self-employed or business owners and I don’t mean just as a way of getting more business and networking, but as a source for being motivated and learning how to cope with the pressure, from people who are already successfully running their own business.
